PIFFF 2021 - The full line-up

Posted on 22/11/21

Over 700 days since we waved goodbye. That was a long time. But here we are, and this time for good. And good news, we are glad to unveil the program and all the small surprises for this next edition, from the 1st to the 7th of December at Max Linder Panorama!

To celebrate (finally!) the tenth anniversary of the PIFFF, this edition will be an enjoyable and bloody celebration of genre films, in all shapes and forms..

What better way to start the festival than with Veneciafrenia, the latest film by Álex de la Iglesia (The Bar, Witching and Bitching, The Last Circus...) and to finish with In The Earth by Ben Wheatley (Rebecca, Free Fire, High-Rise...). Last but not least, they are both French premieres!

Power

You will find the best of the fantasy genre in a selection of 27 feature films and 15 short-movies. Including two world premieres, Stéphane and Message d'Outre-Espace! And as for the guests, several French and international teams are invited to present their films.

Innocence

For more than 10 years, the PIFFF has supported French genre cinema. For this edition, we want to put a French touch on our retro-cult screenings with a special theme, “Hexagone”: a selection of five French cult-films that have left their mark on genre cinemas in recent decades. On this occasion, we will have the pleasure to welcome Gaspar Noé (I Stand Alone), Lucile Hadzihalilovic (Innocence), Jan Kounen (Dobermann) et Nicolas Boukhrief (Cash Truck).

Vampire

But it's not over yet. We couldn't celebrate this edition without a 10 YEARS ANNIVERSARY NIGHT on Saturday December 4th, around the Meta theme: three films and three ways to declare our love for the cinema. And to keep you seated until 6:00 am!

Evil Dead Trap

We weren’t going to forget an emblematic continent of genre cinema! And there's nothing like dedicating an entire evening of Forbidden Screenings “Shocking Asia” edition, with two extreme classics: Ebola Syndrome and Evil Dead Trap.

For the short film competition, we are pleased to welcome this year an equally fantastic jury:

  • Jehanne Rousseau - French video game designer and scriptwriter, co-founder and CEO of Spiders studio
  • Dédo - French humorist, author, singer and comedian
  • Estelle Charrié - Director and 2D artist for Nymphopolis, the upcoming Bobbypills animated series project
  • Savitri Joly-Gonfard and Raphaël Hernandez (Seth Ickerman duo) - Directors and scriptwriters

And finally; our last surprise: the amazing ROB created the music for the festival trailer, which becomes the official theme of the festival! Among others, ROB is behind the original score of Revenge (PIFFF 2017), as well as the remakes of Maniac and Oxygen.

After such a long wait, it's a bit of a deluge of news. But we are looking forward to meeting you at the Max Linder Panorama to set fire to it, and to make this 2021 edition legendary.

We'll be back very soon with more details!

You are the best,
We love you, and we’ve missed you
Team PIFFF
