D'un drame adolescent à la Larry Clark (voire à la Alan Clarke pour son enracinement social), Don't Grow Up glisse, doucement mais sûrement, vers une odyssée paranoïaque, une course contre la montre et surtout contre l'âge adulte. Habitué des univers fantastiques, qu'il a plus d'une fois visités – mais sur un mode souvent plus léger –, le réalisateur français Thierry Poiraud propose ici une variation habile du film d'infectés, et brosse le portrait juste et touchant d'une jeunesse pour qui grandir équivaut à mourir.
