Before he became a US pop culture icon, Freddy Krueger was also – and mostly – a bad guy. Created by Wes Craven before he got caught by post-modernist Scream-like horror, our famously sadistic boogeyman penetrates dreams and flesh and celebrates this year his 30th birthday. The opportunity for us to return to the origins of a business franchise which often neglected the strange charisma of its antihero, perverted by over-exploitation.
