We do miss Kinji Fukasaku, but the next generation is on its way and ready to fight. In the wake of his 1970s yakuza films, The Blood of Wolves finds its place, stupefying with violence, all the more disturbingly nihilistic that it has been perfectly mastered. Kôji Yakusho, in the role of Ogami, praised for his priceless self-control in Kiyoshi Kurosawa's films, give all he has here, resulting in a memorable sadistic performance of the corrupt cop.
