Being a true fetishist filmmaker fascinated by giallo, it was only natural for Peter Strickland -after the sumptuous Berberian Sound Studio and The Duke of Burgundy- to indulge in an exploration of the rustling of fabric on skin and the way compulsive buying devours people. He devotes himself to the making with his usual level of aesthetics and, this is new to him, with humour. Brilliant Julian Barratt finds here a role that fits his sardonic talent.
