Jack Burton, a cocky and chauvinist trucker, helps his friend Wan Chi whose fiancée is held captive by Chinatown thugs. They are dragged into a great adventure that will plunge them into a centuries-old mystical battle between the forces of good and evil …

Maybe not the best of John Carpenter's movies, yet Big Trouble in Little China remains undoubtedly his most cult artwork, one which the fans of Big John watch again and again eve since the blessed era of VHS. Designed as a sincere homage to Hong Kong cinema (Zu, Warriors from the Magic Mountain, among others), the trials and tribulations of the hilarious Jack Burton (Kurt Russell is as charismatic as ever) are a delight from start to finish, especially as Carpenter handles irony without ever falling into cynicism. A classic that you will (re)discover at the PIFFF in its brand new 4K remastered version.
