The lackluster 2016 remake, though co-written by Jaume Balaguero, is an implacable demonstration of this: the singularity of Inside comes largely from its savagery, from its authors' propensity to push the limits of physical and moral pain. Alysson Paradis and Béatrice Dalle abandon themselves in performances of unprecedented strength, accepting wounds with self-sacrifice, Nicolas Duvauchelle transforms himself into a zombie, the set is painted bright red. Some auteurs put everything into their first feature film, and then dry up. Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury have shown in the rest of their filmography that they have no intention of settling down, ever. We've got them to thank for that, while we're on the subject of this tetanizing offspring.
