Ever since American comedy lost the teen movie recipe in its puberty crisis of the 2010s, the world has been looking for new exaltations of the thankless age. Few bookmakers would have bet on Hungary, and yet Gábor Benö Baranyi's first feature film achieves the miracle of renewing this genre and that of the time paradox film. His secret? Start from the social margins, push his protagonist to discover the rules of his device, douse them in gasoline and strike a match with a big, demented grin. Zanox skilfully plays the generational and cultural divide card, without ever forgetting the playful nature of its concept. The new Ferris Bueller lives in an Eastern European dormitory town and cheats at exams thanks to his anxyos.
