13, an important number in the world of horror cinema. So, inevitably, when we attack the 13ᵉ edition of a festival largely dedicated to the horrific genre, we can't help but think about it... As the PIFFF has not been spared by twists and turns in recent years, we've become a little paranoid and are scrutinizing the news carefully, in this month of November, in search of THE thing that could cause us trouble, but visibly, at the end of 2024, it seems to be dead calm.
So, with our minds at ease, it's time to take stock of the year's cinematic output and the trends that have emerged. While last year's program was dominated by ultra-violent films and time loops, this time it's going to be a lot different.
This year, science-fiction films highlighting the uncertain future of our planet have been in abundance. In a way, it's a form of ultra-violence, not aimed at individuals, but at humanity as a whole.
We hope that these warnings will change the situation, because at the PIFFF we're convinced of the power that the medium of cinema can have on public opinion. Entertaining and raising awareness: what fine intentions to kick off this new edition.
